Port Vehicle Pickup and Delivery

Car Haul Auto Transport arranges vehicle pickup from U.S. seaports and delivery to private customers and dealerships across the country. Share the port, terminal and destination so we can review access and collection requirements for your shipment.

Vehicle pickup at a port

Vehicle transport from the port to your destination

Our port pickup service covers the inland move once your vehicle is available for release. We coordinate the transport and the port access needed for the collection. The exact terminal, vehicle condition and release status determine how pickup can be scheduled.

Tell us whether the vehicle is arriving as a roll-on/roll-off shipment or is still in a container. If it is containerized, confirm when it will be unloaded and available for collection; container handling and unloading need to be agreed separately.

Information to have ready

  • Port name, exact terminal or collection facility and its contact information.
  • Vehicle year, make, model and VIN, plus running condition and loading requirements.
  • Shipping reference or bill of lading number and the party authorized to release the vehicle.
  • Current release status, including any customs, shipping line or terminal holds.
  • Pickup authorization, appointment instructions and the last free storage day stated by the terminal.
  • Final delivery address and a contact who can receive and inspect the vehicle.

Port access and release are separate checks

Driver access credentials do not by themselves release a vehicle. The terminal must authorize collection and any shipment holds must be resolved. For example, the Port of Greater Baton Rouge explains that a TWIC credential alone does not provide automatic access to a restricted facility.

We confirm the access arrangements for the named terminal as part of planning the pickup. Ask your shipping agent or terminal what approvals are still outstanding before arranging a collection date.

Arrival date versus pickup readiness

A vessel’s estimated arrival is useful for planning, but it is not a confirmed vehicle pickup appointment. Unloading, processing, release approval and terminal availability can affect the collection window. Let us know when the terminal confirms the car is ready.

Review storage charges and free time with the terminal or shipping agent. Ask what the transport quote includes and whether terminal, storage, handling or other charges are separate.

Delivery to a home or dealership

Share any access restrictions and receiving hours at the destination. A large carrier may need a nearby accessible meeting location. At delivery, inspect the vehicle, compare its condition with the pickup report and record any concerns before signing.

For multiple vehicles, provide the complete list and tell us whether they will be released together. See our dealer transport service for business shipment planning.

Request a port pickup quote

Contact us with the terminal, destination ZIP code, vehicle details and expected release date. We will discuss the route and the next steps for arranging collection.

Port access reference: Port of Greater Baton Rouge TWIC guidance. Always follow the instructions of the terminal handling your own vehicle.
